Tiny Eden Beginner Guide (1.0) — What To Do First
Quick answer
Start a new 1.0 save, follow the first objective marker, learn the Pot Menu, grow a first crop, and route harvests into cooking or selling.
Tiny Eden is out now. Start a new full-game save if you played the demo; do not continue a demo save into 1.0.
What To Do First
- Press Left Alt to reveal the active quest marker and follow the green diamond.
- Clear the opening balcony task from the trash-bin contents menu.
- Put the first plant in a valid planter, then read the soil, light, temperature, water, and weed feedback before buying more containers.
- Look at a pot and press E to open the Pot Menu. Buy the fork when the tutorial asks you to remove a dead plant.
- Grow a harvest, cook or sell it, and reinvest the money into the next apartment upgrade.
If You Are Coming From The Demo
Keep the demo walkthrough as an archive for its quest and interaction answers, but use a new 1.0 save for current progression. Full-release prices, selling surfaces, room unlocks, plant tables, and recipe values belong to their dedicated guides and should be checked against your build.
A Safe First-Day Loop
Use this order until the apartment starts producing reliable income:
- Finish the active cleanup objective before spending money on decorative items. The quest marker is easier to read with Left Alt, and the green diamond points to the current interaction.
- Open each planter's Pot Menu with E and confirm the container is empty, filled with soil, and assigned to the plant you intend to grow. If the prompt does not appear, move closer and aim at the pot rather than the leaves.
- Check the plant feedback after every change. Light, temperature, water, soil, and weeds are separate conditions; fixing one warning does not automatically fix the others.
- Keep one planter available as a recovery slot. If a plant withers, use the fork from the Pot Menu to remove it, then refill the empty planter before planting again.
- Sell only enough harvest to fund the next upgrade. Route higher-value ingredients into cooking when a recipe is available, and use the Trading Hub, retail unit, showcase, or food delivery surfaces described in the money guide.
- Save before buying a room upgrade or changing a large batch of planters. This makes it easier to identify whether a problem is a progression lock, a failed interaction, or a save issue.
Common First-Day Problems
The quest marker is missing
Press Left Alt again, move out of menus, and check the balcony and room entrances. A marker can be hidden by an open interaction panel or by standing too close to another object. If the objective still does not advance, record the exact task and check Known Issues before restarting.
The Pot Menu will not open
Use E while the crosshair is centered on the planter. Move sideways if a shelf or another prop is between you and the pot. Do not hold the key, and do not aim at the plant leaves. The Pot Menu guide lists the complete interaction sequence.
Nothing is selling
Confirm that the item is harvested rather than still growing, then check the chosen selling surface. Trading Hub, retail, showcase, and delivery are different routes; an item listed in one does not imply it is available in another. Verify stock, price, and destination before assuming the save is broken.
A plant has died
Open the planter, select the fork, and remove the withered plant from the far-left action slot. Empty the planter before planting again, then correct the condition that caused the failure. See Plant Care for the full removal and recovery steps.
Beginner FAQ
Should I continue my demo save? No. Start a new full-game save for 1.0 progression.
What should I buy first? Prioritize the Pot Menu interaction, a usable planter, the fork for recovery, and the first upgrade that increases your available growing space.
Should I cook or sell the first harvest? Cook when the recipe and ingredients are already available; otherwise sell enough to fund the next growing or room upgrade.
Where do I check confirmed prices and unlocks? Use the dedicated release and price guide, cooking and money guide, and rooms and progression guide. Treat values marked as community reports as provisional.
What evidence supports these opening steps? The quest-marker and Pot Menu controls come from the archived Steam demo walkthrough and discussion answers; the current 1.0 save warning comes from the full-game launch guidance. Keep those evidence buckets separate when a control or value differs between builds.
