Quick Answer

Buying a drone does not activate it by itself. In the demo, long-press Hold to acquire on Drone Activity: Watering, look at a pot and press E, then assign the drone through Drone Care at the top of that Pot Menu.

Confirmed Automation Scope

The May 22, 2026 playtest announcement described eight drone tasks: fill pots with soil, plant seeds, water, remove weeds, harvest, remove dead plants, remove damaged leaves, and pollinate. That announcement called the system an MVP and said pollination was not testable at the time. The current demo answer above is specifically verified for watering; do not assume every playtest task is enabled in the same way in the demo.

Why The Drone Looks Broken

The demo splits setup across three places: the shop, the skill screen, and each pot's menu. The quest text does not make that sequence obvious, and a normal click on the watering skill does not acquire it. This is usually a setup problem rather than proof that the purchased drone is broken.

Diagnose An Idle Drone In Order

Start at the shop and confirm the purchase completed. Seeing the drone as a shop item or viewing its description is not the same as owning it. Next, open the skill screen and verify that Drone Activity: Watering displays as acquired. If it still offers Hold to acquire, keep the control pressed until the unlock finishes.

Then walk to one pot, center the interaction on the planter, and press E once. Choose Drone Care at the top and assign watering. Close the menu and watch that pot through a normal care cycle. Testing one planter makes the result easier to read than changing several pots at once.

If the drone remains idle, inspect the plant before assuming an error. A watered plant does not need another watering action immediately. Try a pot that actually displays a water need, then re-open Drone Care to confirm the assignment was saved.

Common Mistakes

  • Buying the drone but skipping the watering unlock.
  • Viewing the watering ability without completing the long press.
  • Configuring the drone hub instead of the target pot.
  • Expecting all eight playtest tasks to be active in the current demo.
  • Testing on a plant that is already watered.
  • Assuming one pot assignment automatically applies to every planter.

FAQ

Why does the drone do nothing after I buy it? Ownership is only the first gate. Acquire watering and assign Drone Care from the target pot.

Can the demo drone harvest and weed automatically? The developers described those tasks in a May playtest, but this page only confirms the current watering setup. Availability can differ between the playtest, demo, and full game.

Where is the watering ability? Open the character progression screen from the inventory and find Drone Activity: Watering. Hold the acquire control rather than tapping it.

Is an idle drone always a bug? No. It can be unassigned, missing the watering unlock, or waiting because the selected plant does not currently need water.
